1.7

Let's pass out together
on the green comforter
draped over the couch.

We'll find ourselves
in the morning,
so stop looking.

We'll not get dragged apart
during the night,
worrywart.

I'll be here, silly.

But I guess the thought
never crossed my mind
that you might be the one
who leaves.

  1. Oh, this.

This reminds me of an object that is very, very special to me, and I'm going to share it with you now.

My dear friend and mentor Miss Elizabeth always used to take this giant green-striped comforter with her to prayer meetings and Bible studies and everywhere people got together with God, and we all used to sit around or on or under it and pray and sing and Bible study. Every time I go to visit her, we share with God and each other under the green-striped comforter. It is . . . how do I encapsulate it? It is a God-place for me. I know it's silly, but I always feel near to him when I am with it.

  2. Curtis' comforter is green. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I forgot his favorite color, I guess. Ha.

Isn't it silly how God feels closer sometimes? He's always right there.
